Community members met to discuss the organization and to collect names of favorite licensed professionals. We are collecting names of plumbers, electricians, roofers and othersto approach for support for the seniors in these communities. Please feel free to submit a local business or organization for nomination; this is ongoing activity as we build our Preferred Partners database.
Immediate Volunteer Opportunities
- Accompany a member for grocery shopping.
- Visiting a member in hospital.
- Accompanying a member weekly to theatre, dance and music.
- Sign Up for our Outdoor Corp to help shovel when the snow arrives!

Our December meeting will focus onVolunteerorientation. It will the first offering of the required annual training sessions for Volunteers and will be lead by Margaret Eckert-NortonPhD, CNP, FNP-BC, CDE, a professor at St Joseph's College, Dept of Nursing. The Volunteer Agreement will be available for formal signup. We will then have a meet-and-greet mixer. All are welcome.

TheMyrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership is spearheading an,"Age Friendly Myrtle Avenue"initiative.Good Neighbors was invited, and attended a meeting at the Ingersoll Community Center organized by MARP foradiscussion of Aging in Place. It came up that the city is reconsidering its Access-a-Ride system as it is, in addition to its being difficult and unreliable, extremely expensive. Good Neighbors Network in Action
One of our members has had a stroke.We have been able to visit and provide local situational awareness to her health proxy. Further, in visiting her daily, we aregetting a better understanding of the systems of the Brooklyn Hospital Center.
